Turiya
Last updated 1 August 2026
Turiya has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. The app makes no network requests of any kind.
Everything it records — your practice log, your heart-rate readings, your spoken threshold reports — is written to your own device and stays there. There is no cloud for it to go to.
Turiya is made by German Engineering (German Gladkov), an independent developer. Questions about this policy: metalfan422@gmail.com.
All of the following is stored locally on your iPhone or Apple Watch, inside the app's private container. None of it is transmitted anywhere.
| Data | Why | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Practice log | Session length, lineage, date, your sankalpa, and the coherence and incorporation scores — so the app can show you a trend. | On device (SwiftData) |
| Threshold recordings | The spoken report you give at the moment of crossing. The audio is kept because it is the real record; a transcript loses the texture. | On device, in the app's container |
| Preferences | Your resonance rate, session length, reminder time, sound settings. | On device |
With your permission, Turiya reads heart rate variability, resting heart rate, heart rate, and sleep analysis from Apple Health. It uses them for two things: to estimate how rested you are before a practice, and to score whether the practice actually moved your nervous system.
The iPhone app never writes to Apple Health, and it never reads any other health category.
The Watch app runs your practice inside a workout session. This is what lets it read your heart rate once per second instead of once every few minutes, which is what the breath pacing and the threshold detection need in order to work at all.
When a wrist practice ends, the Watch app writes that practice to Apple Health as a mind-and-body workout. That is the only thing Turiya ever writes to Health, and it is what makes your second-by-second heart rate available to you afterwards in the Health app.
You can revoke Turiya's Health access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Turiya, or in the Health app.
At the moment Turiya detects you crossing into sleep, it asks what you are seeing and records your spoken answer. This only happens when the feature is on and you have granted microphone access.
Turiya transcribes that recording using Apple's on-device speech recognition, with on-device recognition explicitly required in code. If your device cannot do it on-device, the transcription is skipped rather than sent away. No audio and no transcript is ever sent to Apple, to us, or to anyone else.
You can delete any recording from the journal, and you can revoke microphone and speech access in Settings → Privacy & Security.
There is nothing to share. Turiya transmits no data, so there are no third-party processors, no partners, and no data-sharing arrangements. We do not sell personal information, and we never have.
If you have iCloud Backup or encrypted device backups turned on, your Turiya data may be included in those backups along with the rest of your device. Those backups are made by Apple under Apple's terms and your own settings — we have no access to them. Health data is governed by your Health and iCloud settings, not by Turiya.
Delete individual entries and recordings from the Journal inside the app. To remove everything, delete the app — that removes its entire container, including every recording and the whole practice log.
Workouts the Watch app saved to Apple Health live in the Health app and survive deleting Turiya. You can remove them in the Health app under Browse → Activity → Workouts.
Turiya is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since the app collects nothing and transmits nothing, there is no children's data for us to hold.
Turiya is a relaxation and meditation app. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Its readiness and coherence scores are informational reflections of your own Apple Health data, not clinical measurements. If you have concerns about your sleep or your health, speak to a qualified professional.
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete personal data a company holds about you. We hold none — everything stays on your device, under your control, and you can inspect or delete all of it from within the app and from iOS Settings. If you want to ask about this, write to metalfan422@gmail.com.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. If a change ever meant Turiya started transmitting data — which is not planned — you would be asked in the app first.
